In my early days of consulting, I hid the process of a project, and "charged based on value." I've learned the more fair and honest path is to give clients full transparency into how I work, and charge a premium hourly rate. I provide estimates of the cost of a project using the sheet linked here, and then log my actual hours using a time tracker like timely. This way, clients can have a realistic idea of what they can expect to spend.
